The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey 3D High Frame Rate

This is epic.

The only sad thing about this is that I haven’t really watched The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy. I mean, I have seen them but I never really paid attention. But this is a prequel, so…

I cannot wait to see the next two flicks. Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins and the actors who play the dwarves delivered brilliant performances. No need to mention Ian McKellen. He’s legend. Dr Watson in Sherlock, and now this… Mr Freeman is certainly my new favourite actor.

The scene with Smeagal/Gollum is amazing too. And don’t forget the grand entrance of the ring!

There are also many humours! It was really fun. I could follow this journey forever!

The 48 frames per second rate is great, too! It looks really real. I love it! It was the best three hours of my life since… well, I’m not sure if it’s The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises, Looper or Skyfall.

Anyway, this film has been expected big time and now that it’s finally here, it’s even bigger!

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part Two

I watched this not because it’s a good one but because I watch every single movie there is.

I remember seeing Twilight for the first time maybe four/five years ago. I loved it. I thought it was good and I thought Rob was hot.

Then I saw it for the second and the third time. It became cheesier every time, I never knew why.

Followed by New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn Part One which were worse. I started to think they made The Twilight Saga just to make money, you know. They just like produced it, finished it without bothering the many aspects there are to make a real film.

So, I saw Part Two and oh my. The first line comes from Edward, “You’re beautiful.” I don’t know what is wrong with me but I just think every word he says to compliment Bella is super cheesy, followed by Bella’s obsession for him, just as cheesy.

The dialogue’s awful and shallow, the baby looks like a robot. Its CGI is just…bad.

What saves it, in my personal opinion, is the spirit of the people that will totally do anything for the ones they love. And Michael Sheen.

Thank God it’s over. No more people on my timeline obsessing about Edward and Jacob and how romantic and perfect they all are.

You know what I wish hadn’t ended? Harry Potter. I hoped it could have been like James Bond. Everlasting. Forever. (Now that reminds me of the last line of Part Two: FOREVER. Still cheesy.) But of course then Harry Potter wouldn’t make any sense.

So, in conclusion, if I were to rate Breaking Dawn Part Two, I’d give it a five out of ten. It’s somewhat fun and entertaining, but it’s not what you want to find if you look for a real, good film.

Wreck-It Ralph

Real cute!

I really enjoyed seeing this one. Good story, I love the idea that inside of arcade games, the characters live their life just like us human. They have a train station and they can travel through the wires from one game to another. I find it really cute.

The Cola and Mentos thing just simply cracked me up XD

Beside all the fun humours, it also has a heart-warming message. I feel inspired, just like when I saw Tangled and Brave.

Love this week of films! Skyfall? Overwhelming and breathtaking. Now Ralph? Fun, entertaining and touching.

Boys and girls, young and old, don’t miss Ralph!

I hope one day I can make that good of an animation film as well ;)

Skyfall

Let the sky fall

When it crumbles

We will stand tall

Face it all together

“Bond. James Bond.”

I want to see it again. Not only Daniel Craig is so hot and good, but also he makes a great James Bond. How I love seeing him in this. All the fighting, the shooting, the killing, the drinking. Just about everything. Skyfall has quite a good story too. One of my favourite scene is when Bond fights in Shanghai in silhouette. That was overwhelming.

And Javier Bardem, of course! He delivered a brilliant performance as Silva. He’s such a great and talented actor.

I like the new addition, Ralph Fiennes as Gareth Mallory, he’s one of the best actors there is. And I adore the opening title with Adele’s song playing.

Great movie from Sam Mendes. A good 007 film. Looking forward to next ones.

Dredd

I saw the 2D version. I don’t know if it looks better in 3D.

Anyway…

It’s like everything is in slow motion. But I guess that’s the artistic part.

I never knew anything about Dredd until I saw the trailer to this.
I didn’t know what he did. I didn’t know what he looked like.
I didn’t know how he talked. I didn’t know his story.

I knew this would be one of the big flicks but I wasn’t every excited about it.

It’s pretty violent. I didn’t really like it though. I’m not sure if it’s the actors, the story, or anything else.
I couldn’t even see Karl Urban’s face. I mean, I didn’t see Tom Hardy’s face as Bane but I felt him. Well, maybe it’s because I never knew Dredd like I knew Bane.
What I can say is, I’m not feeling very affectionate of him. And in my personal opinion, the story is just ordinary.

And by the way, I am sick of one person took a hell long time to kill the other person even though all he has left to do is to pull the trigger.
For godsake just shoot him/her already. What is with the conversation? It does not even (always) has a point. One of the evil judges pointed a gun at Dredd and he said “wait.” And the bad guy was like “you’re going to die and that’s the word you said?” and then Anderson shot the bad guy (he died) and Dredd was like “wait till she shoots you.” I didn’t see anything cool in that.
Of course, if the hero were shot dead very early then there wouldn’t be a movie.
But still, at least make the postponing conversation worth it, meaningful, and moving. You know what I mean.

I’m not saying Dredd is a bad movie, I’m just saying it’s not a really good one. Still enjoyable.

Looper

This week is supposed to be my exam week but to hell with that. Nothing satisfies or makes me happy more than seeing a movie. I have been waiting for Looper for a long time and finally! I went to see it last night.

This keeps my mind going. Especially on the first few scenes. Joe would narrate the story and I would take a few seconds to absorb it until I was like “oh! yes! I get it now.”

I love this film. The story is brilliant and the way Rian Johnson presents it on screen is sort of good too. Interesting. Finally, something that is not so predictable. I would give Rian a standing ovation.

I laughed once in a while during the film because of the way Joseph Gordon-Levitt impersonating Bruce Willis. Kinda funny. His make up is great, appreciate it and what he’d done to look like Bruce Willis. Good job. I love this guy, as an actor. He’s so good. And this year he’s been in a bunch of great movies. I cannot wait to watch Lincoln and every upcoming Joe Go-Lev movies. He’s so inspirational. Talk about Hit Record! (www.hitrecord.org)

Little Cid is cute. Aside from the fact that he’s ought to become a very bad person in the future and his overwhelming telekinetic skill. I would smile every time he talks. What a smart boy.

Emily Blunt is not bad, too. She’s good, you know, with the American accent and stuff.

Crap. I don’t know what else to say. I honestly don’t really know how to write movie reviews. I write movies, not the reviews. I am so not good at non-fictional writings. I should probably just post quotes.

Quotes are good ;D

Other review(s): Looper is a thrill ride that has a nice blend of thrilling action and matters of the heart.

Resident Evil: Retribution

Resident Evil’s walking deads always scare me a lot more than ghost and psychotic killers. They always appear in the most possible shocking way. I would jump when they do.

Anyway, I quite enjoyed this movie. I love the fighting scene that involves Alice and Ada. They are epic! Milla Jovovich is the coolest!

As for the story, I won’t judge because I don’t really follow the story. Or the video game. I just saw my brother playing it sometimes. That’s how I know about Leon S. Kennedy. I don’t think Johann Urb is that right for the role of Leon. The hair’s good, the costume’s good, but that’s not how I imagines his face would be like in motion picture.

As a whole, I would say Paul W.S. Anderson did it good. I like how it appears and how it is visualised. Honestly. It was awesome! Oh, I like how they made the actions during the opening title go backwards.

I didn’t feel anything about Michelle Rodriguez’s Rain comeback. Maybe because I’ve already forgotten what her character was like in the first film. I didn’t even remember she was in it until recently.

P.S.

I said previously I would go see Red Lights but it wasn’t showing anymore :(

The Cold Light Of Day

I haven’t seen Immortal and I’m wondering why. I’ve heard it’s not that good a film but I’d really love to see Henry Cavill (and Luke Evans too).

The Cold Light Of Day is the very first Henry Cavill I have ever seen. I just gotta watch him before Man Of Steel. I like this guy. Beside being very good looking, he also acts quite well.

As for the movie itself, it’s not good and it’s not bad either. I read some reviews saying that it wasn’t worth watching, that it was boring, pathetic, and flat. But for me, I found it enjoyable. Yes, it’s average, not extraordinary. But it’s entertaining. What was disappointing was the lack of Bruce Willis. I thought, judging from the poster, he was going to be involved in the chasing and shooting but turned out he dies very early in the movie. Then he’s gone. No more Bruce Willis for the rest of it.

Sigourney Weaver plays the villain. I thought she was a nice lady at first but then she seemed to want Henry’s character Will Shaw dead as well after killing Bruce Willis. I don’t really like Sigourney in this.

I’m not saying this is a must watch, but after a long, rough day, I’d say seeing this will ease you up a little. Especially if you’re a girl ;)

Cannot wait to see Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman.

Directed by Mabrouk El Mechri

Starring Henry Cavill, Sigourney Weaver, Veronica Echegui, and Bruce Willis

The Cabin In The Woods

This Tuesday I intended to watch Red Lights but something came up (I got stuck in a parking lot for forty minutes) and I missed the show. I couldn’t see the next one because I had class to catch. So, instead, I went to see The Cabin In The Woods. I had been waiting to see this but I only got to see this today.

Honestly, I don’t know what to say. Not what I expected. You know, when I watched the trailer and saw the poster and read the tagline that says “You think you know the story”, I was curious to hell and since then this became one of those movie I most looked forward to seeing.

The story is… I don’t know. I mean, I get it what Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard wanted to tell in the film. Usual a few young friends go on a trip to some isolated area away from the crowd. Later then they are chased and brutally killed by either some local psychopaths or wild animals (for example, sharks). The characters are familiar as well; one athletic and handsome guy, his slutty girlfriend, her virgin best friend, plus one smart and one stupid friend of theirs. In this movie, they are called The Athlete, The Whore, The Scholar, The Fool, and The Virgin. You know, typical characters of this kind of movie ;)

Except, it’s not like that at all. It’s not a typical “five best friends go on a trip and something goes wrong that they die one by one”. It’s like a game or something. It’s all made that way. And my heart thumped quite a few times during this film, so many unexpected surprises. One of them for example, I was covering my ears when Jules made out with a stuffed wolf because I thought something’s going to come up but then nothing happened. So I went on watching it and just when Dana was talking, in the middle of her sentence a door to a basement opened LOUDLY. I was shocked.

I don’t know what I don’t like about it. Probably the cast. I like Chris Hemsworth but I wished I hadn’t missed Red Lights because I’d rather have seen Cillian Murphy instead (hope to see Red Lights next week). I don’t like the ancient gods stuff either. I find it weird.

Oh. One more thing surprised me. Sigourney Weaver. Didn’t know she was cameo, didn’t see that coming.

Directed by Drew Goddard

Starring Chris Hemsworth, Kristen Connolly, Anna Hutchison, Fran Kranz, Jesse Williams, Richard Jenkins, Bradley Whitford, and Brian White

The Bourne Legacy

Wow.

Jeremy Renner.

Tony Gilroy.

Rachel Weisz.

I like this movie, just like the previous three. Except, I like Jeremy Renner more than Matt Damon. He’s killing me the whole time! Especially when he’s kicking ass and riding the motorcycle! My heart was screaming…

Oh. There’s one thing that makes me like Legacy better. Tony didn’t shoot the film by shaking the camera. I didn’t get dizzy following Aaron Cross everywhere. Running, office, running, office, some fighting and shooting, office, running, and so on… So Bourne. I love that.

And as Legacy is sort of a bridge to the next Bourne films, it doesn’t have a story that wows but it does lead us somewhere. At least for me, it leaves me wanting more. I hope there really will be the next Bourne films because I’m curious of what happens next. Gosh, the ending… I thought they were still going to get somewhere and do some stuff but then the song started playing and I was like “Oh, well, it’s over.” I adore the last line. I wish I could flirt like that with someone who looks like that.

Aaron is so sweet I wish I were Marta Shearing. I love the chemistry that exists between those two. They don’t really show it but it is implied.

Anyway, I was kind of hoping I would see more of Edward Norton. Who doesn’t like him.

Overall, It was a wonderful idea that they decided to make this fourth film of the Bourne franchise. Still more to come, I pray :)

If I pass, can I stay?
